History:
The Apollo Fountain is now located in the Fembohaus City Museum. It originally stood in the Herrenschießgraben (Gentlemen's Shooting Moat) and was built for the Herrenschießhaus (Gentlemen's Shooting House).

From 1889 to 1957, it stood in the courtyard of the Town Hall at Fünferplatz, and then, from 1959 to 1988, in the courtyard of the Pellerhaus.

It was probably designed by Peter Flötner (c. 1493–1546) and cast by Pankraz Labenwolf (1492–1563).

Depictions of Apollo by the Venetian Jacopo de Barberi and Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) served as models for the Apollo Fountain.
