Depiction:
The inventor Peter Henlein himself stands in the middle of the fountain on a spherical structure that is supposed to represent the Nuremberg egg.

He holds a pocket watch in his left hand and looks at it proudly.

His right foot stands on stacked weights from old mechanical clockworks.

Whether he really is the inventor of the pocket watch is not entirely clear.

The coats of arms of the guild and the city of Nuremberg can be seen on the pedestal.

An inscription on the coat of arms on the back commemorates the donors.

History:
The fountain was unveiled in 1905 during a watch exhibition as part of the exhibition opening.

The fountain was donated by the city of Nuremberg and the German Watchmakers' Association.
