The kneeling father, wearing shoes and an apron, has his arms around his naked child, who is sitting on his left leg.
Father and son are facing each other, either talking or playing.
History:
This expressive work follows in the tradition of naturalistic sculpture and is a typical feature occasionally found in housing estates of the 1920s and 1930s.
The naturalism of the figures is imbued with slightly expressive features. The father’s angular body, his deformed nose and sunken cheeks convey a sense of exaggeration and stand in contrast to the child’s graceful, soft forms.
